The objective of the CALL4SMS project is to design and develop a common methodology and platform for the urban environment testing of connected and automated smart mobility solutions, which enables to compare the performance in different environments (western small city – Helmond; Central megapolis – Milano, Munich; Eastern rural city – Zalaegerszeg; Southern mid-size city – Vigo) of the European Union. The other unique value proposition is to involve citizen participation into the testing, so that the rate of the possible public acceptance of the SMS is also predicted.
The central product/service of the project is a common CALL4SMS platform, which can provide unified platform services to all those, who wish to test new connected and automated mobility SMS in urban environment. This way cities can sell their aggregated urban mobility data to industry, using a proper methodology provided by academia, also focusing on citizen involvement issues. The unified CALL4SMS platform services will be offered by boundary spanning organization(s) (joining the different interest of city, academia and business).
As far as participating cities own their own data, the platform is closed from the bottom (only test cities can upload data), but it is open from the top, so although the common platform enables them both to sell data to interested SMS testing companies – in a form of a urban testing reports unified for all testing environment – the actual content of the report will be open source, so it can be formed by both the needs and development contribution of the target groups wishing to use the CALL4SMS platform services.
